Our pharmaceutical client is seeking a Scientific Business Analyst to join their R&D team. This role is critical in bridging the gap between complex biological research and digital infrastructure, with a specialized focus on Biobanking, COTS LIMS, and Sample Logistics.
The ideal candidate will be an independent worker capable of translating high-level scientific requirements into functional technical specifications within a pharmaceutical research environment.

Our pharmaceutical client is seeking a Scientific Business Analyst to join their R&D team. This role is critical in bridging the gap between complex biological research and digital infrastructure, with a specialized focus on Biobanking, COTS LIMS, and Sample Logistics.
The ideal candidate will be an independent worker capable of translating high-level scientific requirements into functional technical specifications within a pharmaceutical research environment.
Key Information
- Role Level: Intermediate (Independent Contributor) – Long-term contract
- Location: Tarrytown, NY: Onsite (Minimum 4 days per week)
- Benefits: 10 Days PTO; Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance; Matching 401k
- Pay Range: $80/hr - $90/hr
Core Responsibilities
- Requirement Gathering: Interface with laboratory scientists to document workflows specifically related to Biobank management and sample lifecycles.
- Sample Logistics: Define and optimize processes for sample management, requests, and distribution logistics to ensure research continuity.
- System Implementation: Support the configuration and optimization of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) LIMS platforms.
- Solution Design: Translate complex pharmaceutical research needs into actionable IT development tasks for sample tracking and data integrity.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between R&D bench scientists and IT delivery teams to ensure digital tools align with laboratory operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- LIMS & COTS Expertise: Proven experience implementing or managing COTS LIMS solutions within a professional setting.
- Biobank Mastery: Strong foundational knowledge of Biobank operations, including the storage and tracking of biological assets.
- Logistics Proficiency: Hands-on experience managing sample request and distribution workflows.
- Industry Experience: A proven track record working within Pharmaceutical Research environments.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to map complex biological processes and sample movements to digital workflows.
Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)
- Sapio LIMS: Hands-on experience specifically with the Sapio platform.
- Scientific Background: Academic or professional background in Molecular Biology.
- Prior involvement in large-scale LIMS migrations or sample management system deployments.
