Job Title: Electrical Engineer II (Instrumentation Specialist)
Location: Vandalia, OH Duration: 12-Month Contract Pay Rate: $65.00/hr
Role Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer II to serve as an Instrumentation Specialist for a high-impact, direct-funded aerospace project. In this role, you will be responsible for the research, design, and integration of instrumentation with aircraft systems (mechanical and electrical) to support data collection for critical FAA/MIL certification requirements.
You will bridge the gap between hardware design and real-world testing, ensuring all data acquisition systems meet rigorous NIST standards for calibration and verification.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Integration: Develop and integrate instrumentation systems into aircraft to capture essential flight test data.
  • Calibration & Standards: Maintain NIST standards for measurement verification; document and control all calibration processes.
  • System Support: Manage hardware and software requirements for data acquisition systems and IADS real-time displays.
  • Testing: Support flight testing through the selection and installation of sensors, including strain gauges and accelerometers.
  • Collaboration: Work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure seamless product development and certification.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: Typically 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of engineering principles and hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools.
  • Specialization: Direct experience with aircraft instrumentation systems and flight testing sensor designs (strain gauges, accelerometers, etc.).
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Industry Background: Prior experience in the Aerospace and Defense sector.
  • Communication Protocols: Familiarity with 1553, ARINC 429, CAN Bus, and Ethernet.
  • Hardware/Software: Experience with Curtiss Wright hardware and IADS software.
  • Systems Knowledge: Understanding of telemetry systems and model-based definition.
  • Manufacturing: Knowledge of electrical component selection and production processes.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to frequently walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs/steps.
  • Fine motor skills and dexterity for repetitive hand/arm motions.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
  • Work is primarily performed indoors with rare exposure to loud noises, fumes, or extreme outdoor elements.

This is a 12-month contract position offering a competitive hourly rate in a cutting-edge engineering environment.
