TITLE: AVIONICS TECHNICIAN IV
Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
Pay Rate: $48.00 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Duration: 12 months+
Summary: Our client in the Aerospace industry is seeking an experienced and skilled senior technician to handle moderately complex installation, testing, and troubleshooting of aircraft electronics. This safety-sensitive role focuses heavily on structural modifications, wire routing, and connector terminations for critical aerospace projects. The position requires a high degree of precision, manual dexterity, and the ability to work comfortably in varied hangar and outdoor environments.
Description – Avionics Technician IV:
  • Perform avionics maintenance, modifications, and component repairs in strict accordance with FCC, FAA, and company regulations.
  • Execute hands-on aircraft modifications, including harness assembly, wire routing, and functional testing.
  • Terminate specialized connector types including COAX, CIR-MIL, RJ-45 Network, and D-SUB.
  • Maintain, test, and troubleshoot test equipment, tools, and technical documentation manuals.
  • Inspect structures, equipment, and vehicles while ensuring the strict safety and security of personnel and property.
  • Operate or supervise localized vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery required for system integration.
  • Handle, transport, and inspect hazardous materials or electronics components safely.
Qualifications – Avionics Technician IV:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; typically 10 or more years of relevant avionics experience.
  • Must possess personal tools in good working order.
  • Advanced skills with avionics installation tooling, wiring installation, wire repair, soldering, and crimping techniques.
  • Proven ability to interpret and execute complex technical schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and publications.
  • Familiarity with FCC standards and the FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) is preferred.
  • Prior background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, Department of Defense (DoD), or US Military is preferred.
  • Ability to pass a Non-DOT physical, a hearing exam, and an Ishihara eye exam (for color and depth perception).
  • Physical ability to frequently climb stairs, bend, stand, lift/carry up to 50 lbs, and work around loud noises, fumes, or outdoor elements.
