Title: AVIONICS TECHNICIAN IV

Location: Hagerstown, MD

Pay Rate: $48.00 per hour

Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week

Duration: 12 month + Contract

Summary:

Support advanced aircraft avionics installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities for a leading aerospace and defense organization. This senior-level role ensures aircraft electrical and communication systems operate safely and efficiently in strict accordance with FAA and FCC standards. Ideal candidates will possess extensive hands-on experience interpreting engineering drawings and building complex wiring assemblies.

Description – Avionics Technician IV:

  • Perform installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of sophisticated aircraft avionics systems and components.

  • Diagnose electrical system malfunctions, implement corrective actions, and support aircraft modification, upgrade, and retrofit programs.

  • Route, install, terminate, and repair aircraft wiring harnesses according to engineering specifications and technical drawings.

  • Conduct thorough operational and functional testing of avionics systems to verify peak performance and regulatory compliance.

  • Maintain avionics test equipment, tools, technical manuals, calibration records, and accurate maintenance documentation.

  • Mentor and provide helpful technical guidance to junior technicians within a fast-paced, highly technical environment.

Qualifications – Avionics Technician IV:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) is highly preferred.

  • Typically 10+ years of comprehensive experience in avionics maintenance, installation, or aircraft electrical systems.

  • Advanced expertise in wiring installation, routing, repair, and troubleshooting alongside expert soldering and crimping techniques.

  • Strong ability to accurately interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and engineering publications.

  • Demonstrated proficiency terminating COAX, CIR-MIL, RJ-45 Network, and D-SUB connector types (TRIAX, QUADRAX, Fiber-Optic, and El Ochito RF connectors are a plus).

  • Must provide and maintain personal tools in good working condition.

  • Aerospace, Defense, or military aviation maintenance experience is preferred, with the ability to obtain a security clearance if required.
