Links Technology Solutions is seeking an experienced and motivated Systems Security Engineer to join our client's team at an Aerospace company in Hagerstown, MD. In this crucial role, you'll play a key role in safeguarding systems and data by implementing and maintaining rigorous security controls aligned with the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST 800-53 standards. You'll leverage your expertise in security tools like Tenable Nessus to conduct comprehensive vulnerability scans, collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security throughout the development process, and contribute to documentation supporting RMF artifacts.

Responsibilities of the Systems Security Engineer:
  • Conduct regular security scans using Tenable Nessus to identify and prioritize vulnerabilities
  • Analyze scan results and recommend remediation actions aligned with STIGs and NIST standards
  • Participate in Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings, representing system security concerns
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure secure design implementations throughout the development lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain documentation supporting RMF artifacts, including Risk Assessments and System Security Plans (SSPs)
  • Collaborate with System and Network Administrators to apply STIG settings and maintain compliance
  • Stay abreast of evolving security threats and best practices to continuously improve our security posture

Qualifications of the Systems Security Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Security, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in cybersecurity or a related field
  • Proven experience working with the RMF and A&A process
  • In-depth knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and NIST special publications
  • Strong proficiency with Tenable Nessus and other security control assessment tools
  • Experience writing technical documentation and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work independently within a fast-paced environment
  • Current/Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance required (non-negotiable)
  • DoD 8570/8140 compliant: CAP, CISSP, CASP, or equivalent certification preferred (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
